You might have heard people talking at the Gym, read about it online or heard about Body Composition testing on athletes ....so, we are going to explain it, in simple terms.
What is Body Composition Analysis?
Firstly, Body Composition is a method of describing what the body is made of, including fat, protein, minerals and water.
Body composition is the proportion of fat and fat-free mass in your body.
Muscle takes up less space in our body than fat, so our Body Composition, as well as our weight, determines leanness.
Two people of the same gender and bodyweight may look completely different from each other because they have a different Body Composition.
Body Composition Analysis is important because the results allow you to discover what you are really made of.
Body Composition Analysis is a simple, un-invasive method of getting an accurate reading of muscle mass, body fat percentage, segmental analysis (left & right side of arms and legs), body balance evaluation (are you in proportion), body part measurements in centimetres, basal metabolic rate and your visceral fat (bad fat around your internal organs that causes heart disease and diabetes) reading.
Essentially, you will understand, why you are, the weight you are.
You will find out if your results are normal for your age and gender or if you need to put in some extra work, to help build a healthier version of you.
Body Composition is measured by our very accurate Inbody 570 machine.
The machine uses Bioelectric Impedance Analysis ( sending small electrical currents through your body's water) and the whole process only takes 5 minutes.
Our Inbody consultant will then explain your results in detail and give you one of our informative brochures.
Hopefully, this helps you understand a little more about Body Composition.
Knowing your Body Composition is the first step towards improving it.
Having a fitter and better Body Composition result, can aid you immensely in understanding your weight, improving your overall health and generally living a fuller, happier life.
